I’ll take that as a “no.”
Maybe I’m absorbed with my current read, Man’s Search For Meaning,” or maybe I am an entrepreneur clairvoyant. I just can’t ignore obvious signs of disinterest.
I talked to a client for an hour today. He wanted to run an idea by me. He had all the right answers and his risk was in check. Then after asking all my business model questions, I asked an emotional one – the one that really matters. Is this something you’re excited about doing?
There should be no pause.
My brother asked a girl to marry him. (Okay he asked three different girls in his lifetime). The second girl took seven hours to return with a “yes.” Seven hours! When you know you want something it takes zero hours. If fact, the question arises, you’ve already moved towards it or away from it.
So after almost an hour conversation on logistics and commissions and resources, the dead air revealed his fate.
Then in the last few minutes he told me what he really wanted to do: own a mobile burger franchise. And when I asked if he’d be the one driving the van, he said “yes,” without hesitation or obligation. He wanted it!
How bad do you want it?
